First REALTOR® Nationwide Open House Weekend April 10-11

With low interest rates, affordable home prices and home buyer tax credit opportunities still a large part of today’s real estate market, the first REALTOR® Nationwide Open House weekend, April 10-11, will provide prospective buyers throughout the country with a chance to view homes in specific neighborhoods as the spring home buying season kicks off.

Interest rates remain at historically low levels, and average home prices are as low as they have been in five years. Additionally, home buyers still have time to take advantage of the $8,000 federal tax credit available for first-time buyers, as well as a $6,500 credit for current home owners who are under contract on a new home by April 30.

“This is a wonderful way to kick off the spring home buying season,” said Tyrone Adams, Chairman of the Nationwide Open House Committee. “These opportunities won’t be around forever.”

New Hampshire Association of REALTORS® 2010 President Monika McGillicuddy agreed that the timing is ideal. “Many of those who may have been priced out of the market a few years ago are finding opportunities now,” McGillicuddy said. “But we just don’t know how long these conditions are going to remain in place.”

REALTOR® Nationwide Open House weekend will provide potential home buyers with an opportunity to view homes throughout their targeted communities and obtain information and answers to questions about specific homes, market conditions and the home buying process.

Check with a local REALTOR® in advance of April 10-11 to find out about open houses in neighborhoods of interest.
