"There's No Place Like Home"

ANNOUNCING THE WINNERS of the 2nd Annual Mt Washington Photo Contest. The 12 photos chosen for the 2010 Calendar for Charity have been selected and all Winners have been notified. This year’s first place in the Pro/Semi- Pro division goes to Stephen Pannone for “Resting Fawn”, second place goes to Heather Durgin for “A Classic Moment”. In the Amateur division, first place went to Maureen Venti for “Snow lingers on Mt Washington”, while second place went to Andy Kohn for “Count Me in Too”. Our Student category this year gave first place to Kennett HS Student April Marie Houle for “Orange Beauty” and second place to Fryeburg Academy’s Megan MacGillivray for “Rising Above”. All winning photographs can be viewed on line at http://www.mwvphotocontest.com/ in the month of December.

In addition to the 6 winners, there were another 6 Honorable Mentions that also received a page in the 2010 Calendar for Charity. Those photos were Kevin LaCasse’s “Mt Washington Xmas week”, Linda Little’s “Reaching the Summit”, Naveen Santhanam’s “Rays of Hope”, Steven Kligge’s “Keeping a Watchful Eye”, Kathleen
Kligge’s “The Seasons Blend” and Bill Fullman’s “Christmas on Chocorua”. There were also 20 additional photos selected for honorable mention recognition as well in this year’s calendar with over 450 photos entered representing some 75 photographers.

“Once again, we couldn’t have done it without all our many local sponsors”, says Bernie. After expenses for promoting the contest and cost to create the calendars, sponsorship monies are also being made available in 1st and 2nd place Cash prizes in each of 3 categories; Student, Amateur and Pro/Semi-Pro.

“The goal of the annual MWV photo contest and “Calendars for Charity” service project is to encourage, recognize and display photographic talent from our shared community of locals, friends and vacationers who share a passion for photography. Bernadette Friberg, creator of this event announced “Now in its second year, a second charity has been added in our long range effort to integrate the photo contest to benefit local Charities”. Calendars go on sale the first week of December and net proceeds will support “Starting Point Services”, for victims of domestic & sexual violence or “Mother Seton House”, supporting pregnant women in need in a faith based crisis Center for women in difficult circumstances.
